At what time does the airport open?

The airport is open 24 hours per day; however, each airline sets its own hours of operation, dictated by their flight schedule, solease contact your airlines directly to determine how early you may check-in for a flight.



How long before my flight should I arrive at the airport?

Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport recommends arriving two (2) hours before a domestic flight and three (3) hours before an international flight (or a domestic flight connecting to an international flight at another U.S. airport.) For specific recommendations, please check directly with your airline.



Does my child need an I.D. card?

Children under 18 years of age usually are not required to have a photo ID for domestic flights. However, since requirements can change per airline, please confirm if ID for minors is necessary to board your flight. If you do need to obtain a photo ID for you or your child, they can be obtained from a number of suppliers.

What’s the fastest way to check-in?

Consider these options:

  • If you’re an elite level frequent flyer, you may be able to checkin at First/Business class check-in.

  • Use an express check-in machine, if your airline offers that service.

  • Use web check-in, now offered by most major airlines.



Does Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport has porter service?

Yes. The Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport has 24-hour porter service. You’ll find our staff in each terminal entrance and on the baggage claim area. This service is free but, tipping is recommended.



Where are the Lost and Found offices?

All articles found in the common areas of the airport like terminals or the parking garage are securely stored by the Puerto Rico Police Station, precinct 216, located at the arrivals level in Terminal E. This agency keeps lost articles for up to 90 days. SJU is responsible for maintaining communication between the agencies and the person who lost the item.

Does the Airport have a Luggage Storage Room?

Do you have duty-free shops in your Airport?

Yes, there are Duty Free stores in all terminals. For more info click here.



Is there assistance for children traveling alone?

To obtain assistance for minors traveling alone, contact your airline.



Does the airport have storage lockers?

No. The airport does not provide luggage storing facilities.



Is there a bank where I can exchange currency?

Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport has a Banco Popular branch where you can exchange USD to EUR. Also, you can find an ATM to withdraw euros in Terminal D. If you have other currency you need to exchange, you can go to the Banco Popular branch located in Santurce. Is there a waiting area for people picking up passengers?

Yes. There is an area that can be used for 45 minutes and has capacity for 25 vehicles. Waiting area is located near the terminal building. Vehicles must never be unattended.



How to apply for a U.S. Passport Book/Card?

  • For first time applicants and minors, submit a completed passport application form DS-11. For qualified adult renewals, submit form DS-82.

  • Submit evidence of U.S citizenship: certified U.S. birth certificated, previous U.S. passport book/card, Certificate of Naturalization/Certificate of Citizenship, or Consular Report of Birth Abroad.

  • Provide one recent color 2”x 2” passport photograph.

  • Present valid photo identification such as driver’s license, state ID card, student ID, military ID, or Federal/state/municipal employee ID card.

What is STEP?

The Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) is a free service provided by the U.S. Government to U.S. citizens who are traveling to, or living in, a foreign country.

STEP allows you to enter information about your upcoming trip abroad so that the Department of State can better assist you in an emergency.

STEP also allows Americans residing abroad to get routine information from the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate.
